Happy Thanksgiving!

We wish you all a very happy and safe Thanksgiving! Today the class brainstormed what they are thankful for, so we wanted to share it with you. We are so thankful for all of your children. Enjoy!

Update for the week of November 16th

Greetings!

It has been quite an exciting week here in fourth grade! Your children met their second grade buddies and created venn diagrams to learn more about each other. They have worked hard to strengthen their knowledge around fractions, and have started to add beautiful figurative language to their writing. It is hard to believe that we are almost at the end of November!

Classroom Announcements:
  • The Free Choice BEA is due on Monday, November 23rd. Everyone will have a chance to share their project in front of the whole class or in a small group.
  • Thank you all so much for your continued tissue donations! We have certainly been using them well!
  • Your children will be "traveling" throughout the Northeast region of the United States very soon. Stay tuned for travel updates!
  • Book Orders are due by this Friday, November 20th. I will be entering the orders at the end of the day, so please either order online or send a check and order form with your child. I sent home a reminder letter today with all of the Scholastic login information with the classroom code.
Please ask your child about the "drops of joy" bulletin board located outside of our classroom. They'll be happy to tell you how their names may end up on a paper droplet!

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Best,
Jen and Denise

Greetings!

Fall is certainly in the air, and I hope that you enjoyed the beautiful weekend as much as I did! Although leaves are falling, I still appreciate the deep reds and oranges that decorate the trees!

Classroom Announcements:
  • Picture retakes will be held this Friday, November 13th. Please send your child to school with their original photo package to swap for a new picture.
  • Our next BEA is a free choice project. Your children have chosen and started reading a “just right” book. I have provided each child with a menu, and all have “ordered” their choices and have received materials to complete this assignment. This BEA will be due on Monday, November 23.
  • I truly appreciate all of your tissue and supply donations! As the winter months approach, please feel free to continue sending in tissues!
  • Have you recently found that you’ve lost a sock or two in the dryer? I have a solution! Please send lonely (yet clean) socks in to the classroom, as we can use them to wipe personal dry erase boards clean! This will prevent your child from using their sleeves, and will preserve the tissues that we desperately need for our noses.
  • We have started to implement weekly math vocabulary into the homework schedule. The goal here is to allow students to become more familiar with and preview math vocabulary from upcoming lessons. This was introduced in class today, and was received well! I even heard whispers exclaiming, "this is fun homework!"

We are very excited for the week ahead! Although it is a short week, we plan to continue working on endings for short stories, explore fractions, and begin a new read aloud. Please ask your child about the recent guests we have invited into our classroom to sign the charter.

Enjoy the week, and stay tuned!

Best,

Jen and Denise
